Poker Hands Rankings

Before playing any variation of poker game (or any other agme like casino slots or winning and, losing roulette games) you should study the basics which are ranking of the poker hands from the highest to the lowest one as the objective of every poker game is to obtain the best hand.  Remember, that if there is a tie the suits are not taken into account while determining the highest hand, the pot is just split between the players with the same poker hands. In case the hand qualifies for two different rankings the highest is to be chosen.

Royal Flush

Royal Flush is the highest poker hand which is the straight from ten to Ace all of the same suit. In case of the tie the pot is splitted.

Straight Flush

The straight of any five cards of the same suit.  In case of the tie the pot is rewarded to the player with the highest ranked card.

Four of a Kind

The hand which contains four cards of the same rank. In case of the poker hands tie the winning hand is determined by the rank of four similar cards or by the rank of fifth different card.

Full House

The hand of three cards with the same rank and two cards of the different rank. The tie is broken by the rank of three similar cards and then by the rank of the rest two cards.

Flush

Any five cards all of the same suit. The winning hand is determined by the rank of the highest card in the hand, in case the highest cards are of the same rank in both hands the second highest card is taken into account and so on till the last card in the hand.

Straight

The sequence of five cards of different suit. The tie of poker hands is broken by the highest card in the hand.

Three of a Kind

The hand of three cards of the same rank and two cards of the different rank. In case of the tie the winning hand is determined by the rank of three similar cards and then by the rank of the rest two cards.

Two Pair

The hand which contains two pairs. In case of the tie the pairs are compared and then the fifth card is taken into account.

One Pair

The hand which contains one pair of the cards with the same rank. The ties are broken by the rank of the pair and then by the rank of the rest three cards.

High Card

Any five cards of the different rank. In case of the tie the winning hand is determined by the highest card in the hand. Always bluff if you want to win after a bad deal.
